It is truly a pleasure to be invited and serve as one of the international chairs of the 3rd World Congress of Cardiac imaging and Clinical Cardiology (WCCICC-2021). Recent development of molecular imaging targets along with rapid advances in hybrid PET-CT, SPECT-CT and PET-MR systems has placed cardiovascular imaging at the forefront of research. Beyond its unique applications for understanding cardiac pathophysiology, image-guided cardiovascular interventions have become an integral part of clinical care in some developing countries. However, in order to prepare the next generation of physicians and clinician-scientists to be competent in all aspects of hybrid imaging, we need to develop collaborative training pathways with radiology, nuclear medicine, and other specialties. and continue to be creative and forward thinking in our clinical and research developments. As such, the scientific presentations at the upcoming World Congress will undoubtedly improve our understanding of differences in health care delivery and cardiac imaging needs in various parts of the world and overcome challenges facing the field by working together”.

I am sure that with their active participation , this conference is going to big success in updating the skills of the participants and their too.
I sincerely wish to almighty God for a great successful conference and expect you all to join in large numbers to make this endeavour , a regular one.
Dear Colleagues, Greetings from the Scientific Committee of WCCICC 2021. These days we are talking about the intercommunication between the molecules and their role in prevention of heart diseases, in imaging the physiological changes, in quantification of the extent of diseased myocardium, about comorbid conditions and to provide clinical comfort and well-being of the patient.
Chronic ischemia or hypertension or inflammation cause significant loss in viable myocardium, changes in the geometry of the left ventricle and cardiac dynamics. The myocytes are inherently unable to undergo cell differentiation resulting in extensive scarring and fibrosis. Therefore, heart transplantation is considered to be the only appropriate management option despite severe shortage of donor organs. Recent studies have also revealed minimal regeneration happening along the boundaries of ischemic territory. The astonishing ability of lower amphibians and the zebra fish to completely replace the lost myocardium is also being studied. Therefore, there could be a possibility human cardiac myocyte to fully regenerate following an ischemic injury preventing a heart transplantation. Strategies like those to promote regeneration of the extra cellular matrix using G-CSF (granulocyte colony stimulating factors) in conjunction with pharmacological inhibition of dipeptidyl peptidase - IV (sitagliptin), modification of confounding factors that enhance turnover of myocytes - like de-differentiation of fibrous tissue and angiogenesis are being seriously evaluated with PET-CT, viral vectors and novel radiopharmaceuticals. The COVID-19 myocarditis also has underlined the importance of non-invasive cardiac infection imaging and the challenges involved. Significant insights into the cardiac sciences can be gained only by global knowledge sharing. Dr. G. N. Mahapatra and his esteemed team has, with a visionary zeal, has organized this sublime platform only to help us take the science of Cardiac Imaging and Clinical Cardiology to the next level. I am sincerely conveying my best wishes for the success of this event.
With Best Wishes,
Dr E. Prabhu
National Chair Scientific Committee (Nuclear & PET Imaging), WCCICC 2021
It is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you all to the 3rd World Congress on Cardiac Imaging and Clinical Cardiology (WCCICC 2021) to be held from 16th to 18th April 2021 at Mumbai. What started off as a small society has grown in numbers, representing the ever-increasing dependence of imaging in cardiology practice.
Once again, we are planning an enriched agenda covering almost all aspects of cardiology with a focus on imaging. Imaging has expanded from simple radiographs, echocardiography, nuclear imaging to cardiac MRI, functional CT, and PET. For a practicing cardiologist it is almost impossible to keep pace and learn newer applications with the tsunami of advances in cardiac imaging. Cardiac MRI and nuclear scans have revolutionized our understanding of cardiomyopathies particularly diseases like cardiac sarcoidosis and amyloidosis. Apart from imaging we envisage to discuss a wide array of topics in cardiology including clinical and preventive cardiology, cardio-diabetes, intervention cardiology, non-invasive cardiology, invasive imaging including IVUS, OCT, heart failure and transplantation, and recent advances including the new-field of Covid-Cardiology.
Apart from this extensive scientific feast, everyone is assured to enjoy the hospitality and weather of Mumbai.
We look forward to the pleasure of meeting and greeting you all in Mumbai in 2021.

It is our good fortune that the 3rd World Congress in Clinical Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging (WCCICC-2021) is being held on 16- 18th April, 2021 at Hotel Sahara Star, Vile Parle (East), Domestic Terminal (IB), Mumbai. The clinical cardiology is the basic foundation on which various imaging modalities stand as solid pillars on which the appropriate management either by intervention or cardiac surgery depends. The success of any management depends on clinical assessment, appropriate and accurate reports of the investigations. The different non invasive cardiovascular imaging modalities consists of trans thoracic 2D Echocardiography, 3D and 4D Echo coupled with intra cardiac Echo and trans esophageal echo have illustrated the image of cardiac defects vividly. Now we have nuclear scintigraphy including positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI), and computed tomography (CT) are very useful in decision making. Without the accurate information from these pillars of imaging modalities the management collapses. The world renowned faculty from all over the globe will impart the valuable knowledge during the deliberation. This is a golden opportunity for clinicians, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons as well as young post graduates to meet the experts discuss the day to day challenges in management of complex conditions. The scientific program encompasses guest lectures, seminars, debates, research papers and rare case studies that will interest one and all.
